Korea K League 1

The K League 1 is a top professional football division in South Korea. It was founded in 1983 as the Korean Super League. It started with only five member clubs: Hallelujah FC, POSCO Dolphins, Yukong Elephants, Kookmin Bank FC and Daewoo Royals. The inaugural title was won by the Hallelujah FC who finished just one point ahead of the Daewoo FC to lift the crown.

A few years later in 1983, the league was reformed and renamed as K League. The name K League 1 wasn’t made official until January of 2018. In 2013, the league was divided into two divisions with one being renamed into K League Classic and the other newly created into the K League Challenge. Since it was created the league expanded from 5 participating clubs to 22.

Out of five inaugural clubs, only three of them are still in the competition. Kookmin Bank FC dropped out of the competition back in 1984 while Hallelujah FC followed them a year later.

K League 1 bets

The most popular bet for Korean football (and football in general) is the winner of the match. What’s more, predicting the exact outcome usually comes with great odds. In the winner of the match, there are three options; home team win, away team win or draw. For inexperienced players, there is a bit simpler bet called ‘double chance’.

The Double chance bet will give you the opportunity to choose two possible outcomes instead of one. Those can be home team win/draw, away team win/draw and both teams winning. This bet usually has lower odds, but it is a great way to start if you are new.

Goals – over/under is always a good way to increase your odds. In this bet, you need to choose whether will there be more or fewer goals than the specified amount. It would be extremely hard to predict the exact number of goals in the match, so for that reason over/under the system is used.

Odds are telling you how much can you earn from your bet. There are few different forms, American, decimal and fractional and each of them is calculated in a different way. For decimal, the things are pretty simple and you just multiply the amount you invested with the odds.

Fractional odds mean that for example, value 6/1 you win $6 for every $1 you wager. American odds, on the other hand, are bit different. When there is a sign + included, it shows you the amount you would win for every $100 wagered, while those followed by – sign indicate the amount you need to put in play to win $100.

Odds comparison

One very important thing to consider is a good betting house. Not every bookmaker will offer you the same odds and they even don’t have the same offer. Some won’t even have the matches you are looking for so be careful while choosing the betting house. Of course, you can always make an account on more betting houses as well. Some will also have great bonuses and promotions which you can use instead of risking your money. However, be extra careful about wagering requirements and read the terms and conditions before you agree to the bonus.
